Hand surgeon Dr. O'Neill is a partner at Bluegrass Orthopaedics & Hand Care. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery residency at the University of South Florida, a plastic surgery residency and a microsurgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, TX) and a hand surgery fellowship at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery. He served as Chief of Hand Surgery at the VA Hospital until 1997. He then moved to Lexington, KY to establish a dedicated office to serve Central and Eastern Kentucky.
Dr. O'Neill was one of the chief surgeons on the transplant team that performed the first two of three human hand transplants in the United States.

I just love Dr. Oneil. I had surgery for carpal tunnel on both of my hands and I am now able to work every day painless and without visibility of my scars. This Dr. is the best. I would have to rate Dr. O'Neill as excellent. Not only is he competent, but very knowledgable. He did carpel tunnel surgery on my right hand in 2009 and I have had NO residual numbness. I started having pain in my thumb joints in...I would have to rate Dr. O'Neill as excellent. Not only is he competent, but very knowledgable. He did carpel tunnel surgery on my right hand in 2009 and I have had NO residual numbness. I started having pain in my thumb joints in November, 2015 and the pain remained constant. I saw Dr. O'Neill in May, 2016. He recommended injections and advised they may be painful. I had them in both thumbs and by the next day, I have no pain in my thumbs joints! I am extremely satisfied!
