Comeback Champion: Luxy Lynne McQueary

Luxy Lynne McQueary - Comeback Champion
At just 16 years old, Luxy has already shown the resilience and determination that define a true comeback. A resident of Columbia, Kentucky, Luxy discovered her passion for gymnastics at a young age. Her love for tumbling eventually led her to cheerleading, where she continues to thrive. Luxy is a student at Adair County High School, balancing her commitment to athletics while maintaining an impressive 4.0 GPA and cheering for her school.
In the spring of 2025, during a tumbling class, Luxy suffered a dislocated right knee that resulted in a fracture of the kneecap that also damaged cartilage. It was determined that surgery was the necessary next step for Luxy’s recovery.

Luxy underwent surgery performed by Dr. Owen McGonigle. While the surgery went well, the injury was significant, and Luxy was advised that a full return to activity would likely take at least 12 months. Although the news was devastating, Luxy remained focused on her goal of returning to the sport she loves. With the support of family and friends, and the guidance of her care team, she committed herself to the long recovery process and worked tirelessly to regain her strength and confidence. Her hard work paid off. In early February 2026, less than a year after surgery, Luxy received full clearance to return to cheerleading.
Today, Luxy is back doing what she loves and continuing to pursue her dream of one day becoming a Division I collegiate cheerleader. Her comeback story is a powerful reminder that with expert care, determination, and support, even the toughest setbacks can lead to an inspiring return. The entire #BGOFamily can’t wait to see all that Luxy accomplishes in the years ahead.
