Meet Dr. Crouse

Orthopedic Surgeon

Providing expert, compassionate orthopedic care to patients of all ages across Central and Eastern Kentucky.

Dr. Charles “Ched” Crouse is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who brings over 15 years of experience caring for patients in Eastern Kentucky. Known for his approachable personality and commitment to patient-centered care, Dr. Crouse treats a wide range of orthopedic conditions — from sports injuries and fractures to chronic hip and knee pain — helping patients of all ages get back to active, pain-free living.

After more than a decade of providing exceptional care in Morehead, Kentucky, Dr. Crouse joined Bluegrass Orthopaedics to continue expanding access to advanced orthopedic services throughout rural and urban communities alike. His passion lies in delivering expert care close to home, with the same level of skill and innovation patients might expect from larger medical centers.

His Approach to Care

Dr. Crouse believes that expert care begins with listening. He takes the time to understand each patient’s needs, answer questions thoroughly, and explain every step of the treatment process in clear, easy-to-understand language. His patients describe him as kind, patient, and deeply compassionate — a surgeon who treats every person with respect and genuine concern.

Whenever possible, Dr. Crouse performs surgery at the Bluegrass Specialty Surgery Center, which was named the Best Medical Facility in Lexington (2025) and Best Orthopedic and Spine Surgery Center by U.S. News & World Report. Conveniently located just off I-64 and I-75, this one-level facility offers patients a smooth, comfortable experience without the stress of large hospital environments.

Conditions He Treats

Whenever possible, Dr. Crouse utilizes conservative treatment options such as injections, bracing, and physical therapy to relieve pain and restore function. When surgery is needed, he offers advanced procedures including total hip and knee replacement using MAKO robotic-assisted technology, which enhances precision and leads to faster recovery times.

Many of Dr. Crouse’s patients come to him when they experience symptoms like:

  • Chronic joint pain and stiffness
  • Ongoing joint or muscle pain that interferes with daily activities
  • Swelling, stiffness, redness, or reduced range of motion
  • Difficulty walking, standing, or performing routine tasks
  • Acute injuries like sprains, strains, or fractures
  • Numbness, tingling, or weakness in your extremities
  • Soft tissue injuries that do not improve within 48 hours

Many of Dr. Crouse’s patients that experience these symptoms often suffer from common neck and back problems/injuries like:

  • Sprains and strains
  • Fractures and dislocations
  • Arthritis and joint pain
  • Ligament injuries
  • Tendinitis and bursitis
  • Sports-related injuries
  • Work-related injuries
  • Overuse injuries

Dr. Crouse earned his undergraduate degree at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, where he played both basketball and tennis. He completed his medical degree and orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Kentucky.

He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).
