Comeback Champion: Mark Rasmussen
June 3rd, 2022
Bluegrass Orthopaedics is proud to acknowledge our latest Comeback Champion - Mr. Mark Rasmussen! Mr. Rasmussen shared his story with us, which can be seen below.
"In September of 2021 I suffered a trimalleolar fracture of my right ankle in a freak accident. That was on a Saturday, and early Monday morning I was seen by Dr. Harrod, who said that surgical intervention would be required. He operated on my ankle that Thursday, inserting two metal plates and several pins. For two months I could not put any weight on that foot, and for several weeks after that I was in a walking boot. I began regular physical therapy in January of 2022, and now, in late May, I walk several miles a day and keep up an exercise and stretching routine. I still experience some soreness and swelling in the ankle, but I look forward to spending this summer teaching in Vermont and hiking, swimming, and riding my bike."
"I could not be happier with the care that I received at Bluegrass Orthopaedics, every step of the way."
"I am the beneficiary of Dr. Harrod's exceptional skills as a surgeon and of his empathetic and careful monitoring of my recovery, and he will forever have my gratitude."
"Essential to my recovery has been the support and generosity of the staff at your Brannon Crossing physical therapy clinic, and above all of its director, Dave Escobar, who was also my therapist. Dave worked tirelessly and creatively with me throughout my recovery to find ways I could get better, even during periods when I had managed to set myself back—I am a card-carrying member of the club known as "Too much, too soon." My final appointment with Dave was last week, and to say that I will miss him would be the understatement of the year."
"I would also single out Dave's junior colleague, Craig Moberly, who stepped in with me on days when Dave was out and never missed a beat, as well as the clinic assistant Parashar and the office manager Sharon, who was unfailingly kind and patient when I had to change appointment times. Sharon is a sunny presence from the moment you enter the clinic to her cheerful wave good-bye as you walk out the door."
"Throughout all levels of its practice, Bluegrass Orthopaedics sets a tone of civility and caring, from the stellar folks at the reception desk, to the PA's and x-ray technicians and the wonderful women in the casting room. I commend every member of the practice for making this atmosphere of caring and politeness an absolute priority. In these sadly divisive times, few things could matter more, and I thank all of you so much."
