For Dr. Jason S. Harrod, the most rewarding part of being a foot and ankle surgeon is helping patients who are unable to walk because of pain—whether from trauma or a longstanding injury—find relief and return to the activities they love. He finds great fulfillment in identifying the source of a patient’s pain, creating an effective treatment plan, and seeing them walk out of his office pain‑free, whether through surgical or non‑operative care.
Patients often describe him as knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive. They appreciate that he listens carefully, explains conditions and treatment options clearly, and develops thoughtful plans to relieve pain and restore function. Many note his professionalism, caring approach, and commitment to keeping them “on their feet” long‑term.
Dr. Harrod focuses on achieving lasting outcomes and ensures each patient feels informed, supported, and given the time to ask questions throughout their care. He reminds patients that even if they are able to walk on an injured foot or ankle, there may be a hidden injury that could worsen without proper evaluation and treatment. Whenever possible, he recommends non‑surgical treatments such as bracing, injections, non‑weight‑bearing protocols, and physical therapy. When surgery is necessary, Dr. Harrod offers advanced techniques in arthroscopy, trauma care, and reconstructive surgery for long‑lasting relief. Dr. Harrod performs most surgeries at Bluegrass Specialty Surgery Center, combining compassionate, concierge‑style care with the latest infection‑prevention technology to provide patients with the safest and most effective recovery possible.
Dr. Harrod specializes in diagnosing the root cause of these concerns and creating personalized treatment plans to help patients feel better and get back to daily life.
