Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Christensen earned his medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1992. He went on to complete his postgraduate residency training in orthopaedic surgery at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. He then performed a hip and knee adult reconstruction fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston from 1998 to 2003. He moved to Lexington in 2003 after joining the Lexington Clinic and worked there until 2016.
He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He is an expert in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery including direct anterior hip replacement and partial knee replacement. He also specializes in complex revision hip and knee replacement. He has authored numerous papers and made presentations at national meetings involving joint replacement. Dr. Christensen's Hospital affiliation is St. Joseph East Hospital.
Dr. Christensen does participate in workers compensation, quality assurance programs, and second opinions.

Great experience, done as outpatient surgery in the surgery center. Very good, I was well informed about what was going to happen and what to prepare for. I am totally pleased with the care & treatment provided by Dr. Christensen and his team during the 15+ years I have been a patient. I had TKR's on both knees in past year & while the recovery was a challenging & painful process, I am 100% pleased with the results. He was always willing to listen to my concerns and questions. His PA's Matt & Evan are the best! And, Dr Christensen referred me to awesome Physical Therapists: Chris for in-home PT & Bethany for outpatient PT at Blue Grass Orthopedics.

Dr. Christensen did a total hip replacement on me 5 years ago. I highly recommend him! Yesterday I saw Matt, the PA for some issues with my left leg. I was very impressed with him too!

Dr. Christensen and his staff are excellent at what they do,- but of equal importance they seem to be very good people. Dr. Christiansen reflects his commitment to good persons to serve people, and the person, by the staff members you encounter along the process to see the doctor or his capable PA Evan Hanson.
